Tiara Stephens is an LPCA who provides compassionate, client-centered counseling services to children, adolescents, and adults. She earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Counseling from Lindsey Wilson College and currently offers therapy both in person at the Somerset office and through telehealth, allowing for flexible and accessible care.
Tiara works with individuals experiencing a wide range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, trauma, behavioral challenges, mood disorders, and sexual concerns. She understands that clients often seek therapy during vulnerable or overwhelming seasons of life and strives to create a space that feels safe, respectful, and collaborative. Her ideal clients are those who want to better understand themselves, develop effective coping strategies, and feel more empowered in navigating their emotions, relationships, and life stressors. Her therapeutic approach is primarily person-centered, grounded in the belief that clients are the experts on their own lives.
Tiara emphasizes collaboration and shared decision-making, ensuring that clients remain actively involved in setting goals and shaping their treatment. She views therapy as a partnership and works to foster an environment where clients feel heard, validated, and supported without judgment. Tiara integrates techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) into her work, tailoring interventions to meet each client’s unique needs. Through CBT, she helps clients identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns that contribute to emotional distress, while DBT-informed strategies support emotion regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness. This integrative approach allows her to work effectively with clients who experience intense emotions, relational difficulties, or long-standing patterns that interfere with daily functioning.
While Tiara does not limit her practice to a single specialty, she has gained significant experience working with trauma-related concerns and personality disorders. She approaches these areas with sensitivity and care, recognizing the complexity of clients’ lived experiences and the importance of building trust at a pace that feels safe. Her trauma-informed perspective prioritizes emotional safety, empowerment, and respect for each client’s boundaries. In addition to her clinical work, Tiara has experience providing crisis intervention services through 988, where she supported individuals during moments of acute emotional distress. She has also worked with LGBTQ populations, further strengthening her ability to offer affirming, inclusive, and culturally responsive care.
These experiences have shaped her calm, grounded presence and her ability to support clients through high-stress or emotionally intense situations.
