Professional Summary

Ashley Combs, LPCA, is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate dedicated to supporting children, adolescents, and adults through life’s challenges with empathy, authenticity, and evidence-based care. She is currently practicing at the Somerset Office.

Ashley’s ideal clients are those navigating issues such as anxiety, depression, self-esteem struggles, life transitions, grief, trauma, and relationship challenges. She also has a special interest in working with children and adolescents who may be struggling with emotional regulation, family changes, or challenges in school. Ashley believes that every client has unique strengths and potential, and she works collaboratively to help them uncover those inner resources and apply them in practical, meaningful ways.

Her counseling style integrates several therapeutic approaches, allowing her to tailor treatment to each client’s needs. She often draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to strengthen coping skills and emotional regulation, and Person-Centered Therapy to provide a supportive environment where clients feel valued and understood. Ashley also incorporates Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) to help clients set achievable goals and take concrete steps forward. For younger clients, she often utilizes play therapy, sand tray, and art-based interventions to create developmentally appropriate ways to process emotions and experiences.

Ashley has completed extensive graduate coursework through Lindsey Wilson College’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling program, including training in areas such as The Helping Relationship, Human Growth & Development, Group Dynamics, Diagnosis & Treatment Planning, Lifestyle & Career Development, and Professional Orientation. She has also developed experience in assessment and testing, cultural competency, and treatment planning, equipping her to provide holistic care that considers both the psychological and social aspects of each client’s life.

In her clinical practice, Ashley is intentional about creating a nonjudgmental and inclusive space for clients of all backgrounds. She is committed to trauma-informed care and strives to help clients feel safe, especially those who may have experienced difficult or painful life circumstances. Her goal is not only to help clients reduce symptoms but also to empower them with skills, insights, and strategies that foster long-term resilience and growth.
